COVID-19 Morning Report

State health officials reported 4,663 COVID-19 cases, Monday, for a total of 889,864 cases. The Florida Department of Health also reported 41 new coronavirus-related deaths, Nov. 16, increasing the statewide death toll to 17,775 fatalities.

On Sunday, state health officials reported an increase of more than 10,000 new infections.

Over the past seven days, the single-day average number of new infections reported has increased to 5,993 cases. The average number of daily deaths reported over the past week now stands at nearly 55 fatalities a day.

The latest single-day positivity rate reported by the Florida Division of Emergency Management, using the formula recommended by the World Health Organization, stood at 9.21% on Saturday. Over the past two weeks, the range of single-day positivity rates has increased to between 7.35% and 11.40%.

In the Southwest Florida region including Charlotte, Collier, Glades, Hendry, Lee, Manatee and Sarasota Counties, health officials have reported a total of 75,923 COVID-19 infections and 1,753 coronavirus-related deaths since the start of the pandemic.

The number of patients being treated for COVID-19 in Florida hospitals has also been on the rise.

On Monday, Lee Health reported that 96 patients were being treated for COVID-19 throughout the health system's five hospitals, which is up from 91 patients on Friday.

Currently 74% of Lee Health's ventilator capacity and 30% of ICU rooms are available. The health system reports having seven COVID-19 patients on ventilators and 19 COVID-19 positive patients in intensive care.
