Boiling Water

A power outage caused the city water plant's pressure levels to drop below normal, triggering the precautionary boil order.

A post on the City'sFacebook page states the following:

City-wide Residences & Businesses

A momentary power loss at the City of Fort Myers’ water plant caused water pressure to briefly drop below normal (20 psi) levels. While pressures have returned to normal, AS A PRECAUTIONARY MEASURE, WE ADVISE THAT ALL WATER TO BE USED FOR DRINKING, COOKING, MAKING ICE, BRUSING TEETH OR WASHING DISHES BE BOILED.

A ROLLING BOIL OF ONE MINUTE IS SUFFICIENT

As an alternative bottled water can be used.

THIS PRECAUTIONARY NOTICE WILL REMAIN IN EFFECT UNTIL THE PROBLEM HAS BEEN CORRECTED AND BACTERIOLOGICAL SURVEY SHOWS THAT THE WATER IS SAFE TO DRINK.

IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS PLEASE CONTACT THE CITY OF FORT MYERS PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT AT 239-321-8100.
