In Philadelphia, a run club helps those recovering from addiction find purpose
When you watch tennis, every once in a while, you’ll see ballrunners sprint across the court between points, picking up balls. Typically, they’re pretty young. In fact, the average age of ballrunners at the U.S. Open tournament in New York City is 21. A tournament in Bonita Springs features ballrunners at the other end of the age spectrum. Most are in their 60s, 70s, and even 80s.
Last year, Gulf Coast Symphony founded the Gulf Coast Youth Orchestra. On Tuesday, May 12, its gifted young musicians will perform for the first time onstage at the Barbara B. Mann Performing Arts Hall. They’ll be joined by the Gulf Coast Youth Jazz Ensemble for a free concert that starts at 7 p.m.
