In a news cycle dominated by the presidential election, Washington, D.C., was briefly distracted by some emissaries from abroad. Qing Bao and Bao Li arrived on a Boeing 777 cargo jet Tuesday to join the National Zoo.

If you've paid attention to both things — incoming presidents and incoming pandas — you can ace at least half of this week's quiz.

Yes, tropical American vampire bats drink blood and in doing so can transmit disease to its victims. North American and most other bats are insect eaters that provide an important service in consuming mosquitos that can transmit diseases to the animals they bite. Most bats also consume large numbers of moths and other insects that feed on plants that our livestock or we depend on.
