Bondi Calls on Business Community to Fight Human Trafficking

Attorney General Pam Bondi is asking for help from the business community to crack down on human trafficking in Florida. She wants businesses to report employees they think may be victims of sexual exploitation or forced labor.

Bondi is also calling on businesses to make sure there is no human trafficking within their supply chains.

"Human trafficking is a $32 billion business that exploits women and children, and 27 million people are enslaved worldwide", Bondi said.

The Florida State University Center for the Advancement of Human Rights says the Sunshine State ranks third in the number of calls to the National Human Trafficking Hotline.

The center estimates there are more than 2.5 million human slaves in the U.S.
