Many Florida students are returning to class this week, ready to share stories about their summer adventures.
Teachers had a busy summer, too. Many took classes to get ready for Florida’s new education standards, known as Common Core.
The standards outline what students should know in math and English at the end of each school year. They also encourage teachers to ditch rote learning and drills. Instead, students are expected to think analytically, and explain how they got an answer.
All of which means that many teachers are going to have to change…how they teach.
