Romney: "We Won't Round Up People and Deport Them"

President Obama gets the same opportunity today that Mitt Romney got in Miami last night. He'll sit for a bilingual interview on the Spanish language Univision network to make his re-election case to Hispanic voters.

The president is polling far ahead of Romney among Hispanics, Florida's fastest growing voting bloc. In his appearance at the University of Miami last night, Romney was asked repeatedly about immigration, and whether he would rescind the president's order to allow some undocumented immigrants - the ones brought here as children - to stay in the U.S.

He didn’t answer directly when asked, “Are you going to deport them or not? Yes or no”.

Romney replied, “We're not gonna round up people around the country and deport them. I said in my primary campaign time and again, we're not gonna round up 12 million people - that includes the kids and the parents - and have everyone deported. Our system isn't to deport people.”

Romney listened through a simultaneous translator as questions were posed in Spanish. He also told the crowd - in a reference to the video in which he appears dismissive of 47%of the American population - that he would be the president of 100% of Americans.
