Quinnipiac Poll: Obama's Job Approval Rating Plummets in Florida

President Barack Obama’s job approval rating has tied an all-time low in Florida, according to a Quinnipiac University poll released today. By a margin of 57%to 40%, voters disapprove of how the president is doing his job. Among independent voters, just 34 percent approve of Obama’s performance.

A majority of Florida voters, 54%, don't like the Affordable Care Act, or ObamaCare – and by a 2-to-1 margin, they think the quality of their health care will be worse in a year than it is now. Pollster Peter Brown says going into an off-year election cycle, the president’s sinking numbers could be a liability for Florida Democrats.

"Politics is a team game, and Barack Obama is captain of the blue team. If he’s not popular, it is going to hurt members of the team", said Brown.

For the first time in the Quinnipiac Poll, less than 50% of Florida voters say the president is honest and trustworthy.

Quinnipiac also asked Florida voters about the 2016 presidential election, and they favor a matchup between former secretary of state Hillary Clinton and former governor Jeb Bush. Clinton leads Bush 47% to 45% in the potential race.
