Since Hurricane Irma hit Southwest Florida last week, officials in Hendry County said they've been handing out, on average, a couple semi-trucks of food and water per day. They were also giving away ice, tarps and other necessities Tuesday at the Dallas B. Townsend Agricultural Center in LaBelle.
More than 50 volunteers from across the state and beyond were lending a hand. Tuesday, WGCU's Jessica Meszaros spoke with Hendry residents receiving donations about life after Irma.
Hendry officials now moved the donations and distributions to the emergency operations center warehouse located at 840 Kennedy Blvd. in Labelle. Items still needed include things for babies, like formula, diapers, and wipes.
