Return to New Orleans: Pontchartrain Park
Weekend Edition Saturday editor Gwendolyn Thompkins delivers the second part of her report on returning to New Orleans. Thompkins grew up in a neighborhood called Pontchartrain Park. When the levees failed after Hurricane Katrina, Lake Pontchartrain reclaimed every house as far as the eye can see.

National park reopening after Hurricane Ian; other parks closing before Tropical Storm Nicole
Just when some national parks reopen after Hurricane Ian, other public lands are shuttering due to Tropical Storm Nicole.Everglades National Park will reopen the Gulf Coast region in Everglades City on Friday. Restrooms, parking and the canoe and kayak launch will be available once again to allow paddlers to explore Ten Thousand Islands and the wilderness camping sites.
