Lawsuit seeks to protect endangered Florida panthers from large Collier County development
Conservation groups sued the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Wednesday to protect endangered Florida panthers from a new development within the panthers’ occupied breeding habitat in Collier County. The lawsuit, filed in U.S. District Court in Fort Myers, said the federal agencies violated the Endangered Species Act when they authorized a 10,264-acre residential and commercial development project known as Rural Lands West in important habitat for panthers in Collier County.

All lanes reopened on Interstate 75 after emergency crews and others cleaned up after a truck hit an overhead sign near Proctor Road in Sarasota County Monday morning. After striking the sign, the truck continued forward and struck a bridge, where it wedged beneath the structure.
Sarasota man indicted in fraud scheme while living in Naples
A Sarasota man is now under indictment on charges of wire fraud, money laundering and making a false tax return. The indictment was unsealed Thursday against Brent Adam Seaman, 51. He is facing five counts of wire fraud, four counts of money laundering, and two counts of making a false tax return.

Officials say these communications do not come from the Town, and residents are urged to take care.
