Lehigh Acres man faces charges for alleged role in major theft ring targeting luxury-level vehicles
A federal grand jury indictment names Michel Serrano of Lehigh Acres as one of three men alleged to be part of a major Florida theft ring targeting vehicles including premium pickups, high-end Jeep models and luxury brands such as the Infiniti.The 34-year-old Serrano faces charges of conspiracy to commit interstate transportation of stolen motor vehicles and the sale and possession of stolen motor vehicles, as well as two counts of interstate transportation of stolen motor vehicles. If convicted on all counts, Serrano faces a maximum penalty of 10 years in federal prison. The indictment described Serrano as registered agent, president and treasurer of Serrano Trucks Corp. of Lehigh Acres. The Florida Division of Corporations lists the company as inactive.

USDA issues disaster declaration for Florida in wake of crop damage by 2026 freeze
U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Brooke Rollins announced a USDA disaster declaration Wednesday that supports Florida's agricultural producers impacted by historic freezes. The declaration follows a bipartisan push by all members of Florida’s congressional delegation urging USDA to provide relief for farmers and producers devastated by the late January, early February freeze.

More than 100,000 cubic yards of Milton debris collected from unincorporated Lee County
Lee County surpassed the 100,000-cubic-yard milestone for vegetative and construction debris collection in unincorporated areas post-Hurricane Milton this week. The total amount of collections including sand is approximately 152,876 cubic yards.
Lee Health expanding plans for Fort Myers medical campus
Lee Health recently approved an additional $150.5 million investment to enhance its upcoming Fort Myers facility, including a new patient tower and an onsite childcare center.The expansion will increase the hospital’s capacity by 92 beds, including 48 acute care beds, 20 skilled nursing unit beds, and shelled space for an additional 24 acute care beds.
