Mourners Pay Final Respects to Rosa Parks
Celebrities, politicians and other mourners flock to Detroit for the funeral of civil rights pioneer Rosa Parks. Former President Bill Clinton and singer Aretha Franklin are among the thousands who paid their respects to Parks, who died Oct. 24 at age 92.

Civil Rights Pioneer Rosa Parks Dies
Rosa Lee Parks became a symbol of the civil rights movement when she was arrested for refusing to give up her seat on a bus to a white man. Her arrest in 1955 triggered a long bus boycott and ultimately challenged the Jim Crow laws of the South. She was 92.

Filmmaker and photographer Gordon Parks has died. He was 93. Parks captured black America as a photographer for Life magazine, and then became Hollywood's first major black director with the hit Shaft. He also wrote fiction and was an accomplished composer.

Strike In Oakland Causes Parking Meter Confusion
One parking officer decided to cross the picket line when city employees went on Strike in Oakland, Calif., and he wrote tickets. He said he was happy with his pay and didn't want to strike. Employee of the month? No. The city said all tickets he wrote would be voided.

Evacuated Griffith Park Residents Return to Homes
Firefighters in Los Angeles appear to have the upper hand on a wildfire that has consumed more than 800 acres in Griffith Park. The 4,000-acre park is a city landmark, home to its zoo and the famous Hollywood sign. Firefighters hope to have the blaze completely under control by nightfall Thursday.
