Big Cypress NP amends temporary area closure for Boundary Phase 1 prescribed fire
Big Cypress National Preserve has re-issued a temporary closure to promote visitor safety during prescribed fire activity beginning Tuesday. Closure incudes all areas and trails within the treatment perimeter, however, due to changes in weather and environmental conditions, the previously planned Boundary Prescribed Fire Phase 1 treatment perimeter has been amended.
Lee commissioners approve parking changes on Boca Grande
An agreement was long time coming, but Gasparilla Island has new parking regulations.Sixty people signed up to speak and Lee County commissioners listened to more than an hour and 40 minutes of public comment before unanimously approving the parking ordinance with a few changes.

Think Estero traffic is bad now? The next 10 years won't be better
A traffic study concludes that congestion will get a lot worse in the Village of Estero in next 10 years. The Johnson Engineering study found that some major roads could experience long periods of stop and go traffic by 2034.
Charlotte formally begins conflict resolution over Boca Grande parking ordinance
Charlotte County is beginning the conflict resolution process with Lee County over the new regulations on parking on Boca Grande. It's part of state law to allow government bodies to try to resolve disagreements before lawsuits are filed.
