Naples Mayoral and city council election recount set for Saturday
The Collier County Supervisor of Elections office will conduct a machine recount followed by a manual recount of ballots from the Naples mayoral race and a city council race that were too close to call following Tuesday’s elections.
Naples Art Selects New Director Frank Verpoorten
The new year brings new leadership to Collier County’s longest-running arts organization. We’ll talk with the new Executive Director and Chief Curator for Naples Art, Frank Verpoorten. The nonprofit Naples Art at the von Liebig Art Center in downtown Naples is known for its exhibitions, arts education and festivals. We’ll talk with Verpoorten about his background and vision for Naples Art going forward.

The deadline to register to vote or update your party affiliation for the 2024 Primary Election is July 22.Florida is a Closed Primary State. This means that only voters who are registered members of a political party may vote for their respective party’s candidate in a Primary Election.
January 22 is last day to request vote-by-mail ballot to be mailed for 2026 City of Naples election
Thursday, January 22, is the last day voters can request a Vote-by-Mail ballot to be mailed by the Collier County Supervisor of Elections office for the 2026 City of Naples Election. Voters requesting a ballot must contact the Supervisor of Elections office by 5 p.m. on January 22.

Rebuilt Big Cypress Bend boardwalk offers a window to the Fakahatchee Strand Preserve State Park
The Fakahatchee Strand Preserve State Park‘s Big Cypress Bend Boardwalk Expansion project came about after the walkway was damaged by Hurricane Ian and closed in 2022. Reconstruction began in 2024 and it reopened in late 2025. An official ribbon-cutting ceremony for the reopened boardwalk was held at the Collier County-sited park Saturday.
DeSantis confirms President Trump visit to 'Alligator Alcatraz'; Petition, lawsuit seek to stop project
Florida Governor Ron DeSantis confirmed Monday that President Donald Trump may be making a visit to the "Alligator Alcatraz" site being prepared in the Everglades in eastern Collier County.That confirmation came after Special VIP Movement Notifications and Notices for Airmen were issued for both Palm Beach Airport, near where the Trump's Mar-A-Lago residence is, and Ochopee, the location designation for the Dade-Collier Training and Transition Airport where the Alcatraz site is located. There is also a petition on Change.org seeking to stop the project.
