Ways for those impacted by Hurricane Ian to cope with anxiety as Hurricane Idalia moves through the Gulf of Mexico
"Oh, no — please, not again" — is a sentiment it’s fair to think that many residents of Southwest Florida have been thinking and feeling as Hurricane Idalia made its way north through the Gulf of Mexico and toward the Florida peninsula. While not on the exact same track as Hurricane Ian last September, and doesn't appear to be on a path that will severely impact Southwest Florida, Idalia is coming from the same general direction and revives memories of Hurricane Ian in September of 2022.

COVID-19 Morning Update
State health officials reported 379 new cases of COVID-19 in Florida, Wednesday, for a total of 52,634 confirmed cases.As the nationwide death toll from COVID-19 hit the 100,000 mark, yesterday, the Florida Department of Health also reported 60 new coronavirus-related deaths, bringing Florida's death toll to 2,319 confirmed fatalities, including 1,089 deaths in long-term care facilities.The total number of virus-related hospitalizations in the state now stands at 9,639 patients.Of the 935,271 tests that have been performed in Florida so far, 5.6% have been positive for the virus.

Wildfire threat waning as May showers portend summer rainy season
The Florida Forest Service lowered the risk of wildfires in the region mid-May as the Sunshine State moves into its typical summer rainy season.
COVID-19 Morning Report
State health officials reported 2,423 new cases of COVID-19, Sunday, increasing Florida's total to 663,994 cases.The Florida Department of Health also reported eight new coronavirus-related deaths of Florida residents, Sept. 13, bringing the statewide death toll to 12,764 fatalities.On Saturday, state health officials reported 3,190 new COVID-19 cases and 98 deaths.

Supreme court sends suit on detention center to lower court
The Florida Supreme Court on Monday sent to a lower court a case filed by Democratic state lawmakers after they were denied entry to a controversial immigrant-detention center in the Everglades dubbed “Alligator Alcatraz.”

State health officials reported 3,255 new COVID-19 cases, Thursday, increasing Florida's total to 674,456 cases. The Florida Department of Health also reported 147 new coronavirus-related deaths, Sept. 17, bringing the statewide death toll to 13,247 fatalities.Of the 5,018,057 COVID-19 tests that have been reported in Florida so far, the overall positivity rate stands at 13.44%. The latest single-day positivity rate stands at 4.44%.
