Lee County begins Ortiz Avenue widening project this month
Lee County’s contractor, OHLA USA, begins work this month to widen Ortiz Avenue from Colonial Boulevard to Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard. The project will widen the roadway from two lanes to four travel lanes and include a 6-foot sidewalk on the east side of the road and a 10-foot paved trail on the west side of the road.

The National Weather Service issued a Heat Advisory Wednesday afternoon.
Largest ever Burmese python in Florida found in Collier County
The largest Burmese python ever discovered in Florida was captured from the Everglades and brought to the Conservancy of Southwest Florida for research. The female python, weighing in at 215 pounds and 18 feet long, had 122 eggs inside of her, which is the largest egg count ever recorded for a python.
