The Federal Emergency Management Agency said it will cover vessels damaged by Hurricane Ian if they were liveaboards and the proper proof can be shown.

The National Weather Service has issued a heat advisory for portions of Southwest and South Florida until 8 p.m. on Monday.

Governor Ron DeSantis held a press conference in Naples Tuesday, during which he criticized the Biden administration for not providing Florida with the requested number of monoclonal antibody treatment doses. He also discussed the state’s guidance on scaling back COVID-19 testing and plans to get at-home coronavirus tests to vulnerable populations like senior communities.

COVID-19 Morning Report
State health officials reported 2,582 new COVID-19 cases, Wednesday, bringing Florida's total to 722,707 cases. The Florida Department of Health also reported 137 new coronavirus-related deaths, Oct. 7, increasing the statewide death toll to 15,084 fatalities.Of the 5,466,927 COVID-19 tests that have been reported in Florida so far, the overall positivity rate reduced slightly to 13.22% and the latest single day positivity rate fell to 4.14%.

Harry Chapin Food Bank’s 2024 Impact Report documents sharp rise in food insecurity in SWFL
The need for food assistance remained vital for many in Southwest Florida in 2024 as evidenced by a more than 10 percent increase in food distribution — more than 4 million pounds — reported by the Harry Chapin Food Bank.Additionally, Chapin reported large upticks in several children-focused food distribution programs.Chapin's distribution of 39.5 million pounds of food through its Feeding Network in 2024 equates to an additional 3 million meals served to neighbors across Southwest Florida.
