A Florida judge overturned an emergency motion, Thursday, attempting to reinstate a stay on his previous ruling that allows school districts to keep their student mandatory mask policies in place.Numbers of hospitalized COVID-19 patients in Southwest Florida continue to decline, as COVID-19 deaths of hospitalized patients continue to grow.The Fallen Officer Memorial Page lists COVID-19 as the number one cause of death for law enforcement officers nationwide in both 2020 and 2021.

Drought and related water restrictions expand in Southwest Florida
Residents of Sanibel, and north Cape Coral, are being reminded about the drought unfolding in coastal Southwest Florida and to stick to the water restrictions.
COVID-19 Morning Report
State health officials reported 7,788 new COVID-19 cases, Sunday and 119 new deaths. Florida launched a new state-run website, Friday, for people to register for COVID-19 vaccination appointments at myvaccine.fl.gov. It remains unclear how Florida residents under 65 years old who are deemed “extremely vulnerable” can sign up to receive a vaccine dose. The more contagious COVID-19 variant called B.1.1.7 continues to spread in Florida. The CDC reports, Florida now leads the nation with 147 cases of the variant identified so far. After giving Publix exclusive vaccine rights in Palm Beach County, the state is now planning to open a vaccine clinic in Belle Glade to serve the predominantly Black agricultural towns that surround Lake Okeechobee and that are more than 25 miles away from the nearest Publix location. A USF survey focused on misinformation, social media, and the politicization of the pandemic explores varying degrees of trust people have in information they’re getting about the coronavirus through social media platforms.

COVID-19 Morning Update
State Health officials, Thursday, reported a new record high number of COVID-19 cases documented in a single day since the pandemic began.The Florida Department of Health reported 3,207 new cases of the virus, June 18, bringing the statewide total to 85,926 cases.State health officials also reported 43 new coronavirus-related deaths, Thursday, increasing the statewide death toll to 3,061 fatalities including 1,612 deaths in long-term care facilities.

Water Quality Report Red Tide Blue-Green Algae Cyanobacteria EnterococcusReports from state environmental agencies, conservation group, and citizens said the major waterways in Southwest Florida were clear of red tide, blue-green algae, and other harmful algae blooms as the week began although there were some minor reports offshore and in the Caloosahatchee River.

COVID-19 Morning Update
Florida health officials reported 941 new confirmed cases of the coronavirus, Tuesday, for a statewide total of 41,923 cases, marking the largest single-day increase since May 1.The Florida Department of Health also reported 44 new COVID-19 related deaths, Tuesday, for a total of 1,779 fatalities. Comparatively, that’s a significant increase from the six new deaths reported Sunday and the 14 new deaths reported Monday.
