Collier commissioners move forward to fight noise pollution
A local community group, Quiet Florida, advocated for action against noise pollution issues at a recent Collier County commission meeting, citing excessive noise from illegally modified vehicles as lowering the community’s quality of life.
Heitmann, Barton confirmed winners in Collier vote recount
The machine and hand recounts of the City of Naples Mayoral and City Council races concluded Saturday with Naples Mayor Teresa Heitmann retaining her post and the third council seat winner confirmed as Berne Barton.Heitmann kept her seat by a slim 22-vote margin over Gary Price, 3,269 to 3,247. Third-place candidate Ted Blankenship had 2,049 votes.

Heat advisory issued for Collier, Glades, Hendry and eastward
The heat index, also known as the apparent temperature, is what the temperature feels like to the human body when relative humidity is combined with the air temperature. There is direct relationship between the air temperature and relative humidity and the heat index, meaning as the air temperature and relative humidity increase (decrease), the heat index increases (decreases).

At a briefing this morning at the State Emergency Operations Center governor Ron DeSantis said Lee & Collier Counties are basically off the grid and it’s going to take more than reconnecting lines to restore power to many people but is more of an infrastructure issue at this point.

GLSEN Collier presenting 2025 Youth Pride Conference in Naples
GLSEN is a national nonprofit that works to end discrimination, harassment, and bullying based on sexual orientation and gender identity and promote LGBT inclusion and awareness in K-12 schools. It has more than 40 local chapters across the United States, including one in Collier County. This Saturday, they are presenting the 2025 Youth Pride Conference in Naples from 10am to 4pm at the Naples United Church of Christ. We talk to two GLSEN Collier alumni who are part of Saturday's conference.
