The National Hurricane Center has released its official forecast for the 2025 Atlantic Hurricane season. It calls for above-average activity between 13 and 19 named tropical systems, of which 6 and 10 could become hurricanes, and from these, between 3 and 5 could become major hurricanes. The Florida Fish Wildlife Conservation Commission is adding to the 2025 panther mortality list with the news that another of the big cats has been killed.The remains of an 11-year-old, female Florida panther (K408) were collected August 29, 2025, next to Jane’s Scenic Memorial Drive in Copeland, Collier County.
