Hurricane housing recovery program applications now open
The State of Florida has provided funds to the City of Cape Coral as part of the Hurricane Housing Recovery Program to assist residents impacted by Ian. The disaster-related funds are to be used to assist income-eligible applicants with payments of their insurance deductible amounts.

Breeze Airways plans four new Fort Myers non-stop routes
Four new cities have been added to non-stop flights planned by Breeze Airlines for Southwest Florida International Airport users starting in early October.The new Breeze Airways nonstop flights will carry passengers between RSW and Stewart/Newburgh, New York (SWF), Lansing, Michigan (LAN), Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, Pennsylvania (AVP) and Bangor, Maine (BGR) in early October.

Tropical weather system makes a shift towards the Gulf of Mexico
A shift to the west is seen in the latest Tropical Weather Outlook issued by the National Hurricane Center.In Thursday's 2 p.m. report, the NHC said that a well-defined tropical wave, named Invest 97, is producing a large area of disorganized showers and thunderstorms over Hispaniola, Puerto Rico, the Southeastern Bahamas, and the adjacent waters of the southwestern Atlantic and northeastern Caribbean Sea.
Report all wild turkey sightings to FWC from now until Aug. 31
The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission is asking Floridians to report all sightings of wild turkeys between now and Aug. 31. This includes hens (with or without poults or young turkeys) and bearded turkeys.
