Rae Ellen Bichell is a reporter for NPR's Science Desk. She first came to NPR in 2013 as a Kroc fellow and has since reported Web and radio stories on biomedical research, global health, and basic science. She won a 2016 Michael E. DeBakey Journalism Award from the Foundation for Biomedical Research. After graduating from Yale University, she spent two years in Helsinki, Finland, as a freelance reporter and Fulbright grantee.

Claire Thornton, 21, is a rising senior at Princeton University, where she is Head News Editor for The Daily Princetonian. She is majoring in English, with minors in journalism, American studies, and Slavic studies. Her independent research within Princeton’s English department focuses on Western news coverage of the Russian state. In other words, she should have majored in comparative literature.

Mike Osborne is the newest addition to the on-air staff at WMOT. He now serves as the News Director for Middle Tennessee Public Radio and can be heard on-air daily.

Jeff Cohen started in newspapers in 2001 and joined Connecticut Public in 2010, where he worked as a reporter and fill-in host. In 2017, he was named news director.

Yaneli Gonzalez is a Miami native and a senior at Florida International University (graduating December 2017). She is pursuing a B.S. in Communications: Broadcast Journalism and a B.A. in International Relations. Her minor is in Italian language, and she has earned a Certificate in European and Eurasian Studies. When she isn't watching the news, she finds herself flipping back and forth between the Science and History channels each night. Late night comedy shows are the occasional exception.

Now that she manages a full newsroom she files less regularly for NPR’s All Things Considered, Morning Edition and Weekend Edition. In 2009 she was part of an NPR series on America’s Battalion out of Camp Lejeune, NC following Marine families during the battalion’s deployment to southern Afghanistan. And because Wilmington was the national test market for the digital television conversion, she became a quasi-expert on DTV, filing stories for NPR on the topic.
