Gov. DeSantis' congressional map would cost Democrats and Black voters in the Panhandle
Governor Ron DeSantis is pushing to eliminate north Florida’s only U.S. House district where Black voters can elect a candidate of their choice. The legislature, however, is working on a plan that keeps the 5th Congressional District’s current configuration largely intact. If the governor's map were to prevail, it would undo progress toward securing minority voting power in the region.
In Texas, thousands of mail ballots were rejected following new ID requirements
Perhaps most notably, Harris County rejected a whopping 19% percent of the mail ballots it received, or 6,888 ballots in total. Four years ago the county's rejection rate was about 0.3%.

Two South Florida appeals courts revive 2022 voter fraud cases
Nearly two years after Gov. Ron DeSantis and other state officials drew widespread attention by announcing voter-fraud charges against convicted felons, two South Florida appeals courts Wednesday overturned rulings that dismissed charges against a pair of defendants.Divided panels of the 3rd District Court of Appeal and the 4th District Court of Appeal upheld the statewide prosecutor’s authority to pursue the 2022 cases against Ronald Miller and Terry Hubbard and sent the cases back to circuit court.
