Lee County Parks & Recreation is assessing sites for damage and impacts from Tropical Storm Debby, which made landfall as Hurricane Debby in Florida’s Big Bend earlier Monday. Bunche Beach Preserve, Lynn Hall Memorial Park and access No. 4 of Bonita Beach Park are currently closed. Some parking areas along Bonita Beach has also been impacted.
Nonprofit mobile clinic started with a used RV now serves uninsured children & families across Lee County
When Dr. Nadine "Deanie" Singh founded Premier Mobil Health Services in 2018 as a mobile clinic operating out of an RV she bought with her own money on eBay. They serve uninsured and underinsured children, families and individuals at multiple locations across Lee County, as well as at a walk-in, bricks-and-mortar clinic in Fort Myers. Dr. Singh recently traveled to Boston to attend an executive education course for nonprofits at the Harvard Business School — which was supported by a scholarship from the Harvard Club of Naples — so we brought her into the studio to talk about her path that led to founding Premier Mobile Health Services, the work they do, and what she took away from her trip to Boston.

Gov. DeSantis says Florida will appeal denial of FEMA aid for victims of January tornadoes in Lee and Charlotte counties
Governor Ron DeSantis was in Fort Myers Friday morning to address ongoing recovery efforts stemming from damage sustained when tornadoes touched down in Southwest Florida in January. Florida plans to appeal a denial of the state’s request for federal aid.

Eleven Lee County high schools participating in this year's High School Musical Theater Awards at BB Mann
The High School Musical Theatre Awards take place at 7 p.m. on Friday, May 8 at the Barbara B Mann Performing Art Hall at FSW. Patterned after the Tony Awards, the evening features performances by each participating school, along with awards in a number of categories, including Best Overall Production, Best Ensemble and Best Actor and Supporting Actor in both Male-Identifying and Female-Identifying roles.
Local podcast to bring attention to the 19-year-old mystery of two missing men from Collier County
January 12 marks the anniversary of a mystery nearly two decades old. The mystery of two men disappearing under similar circumstances has now become the subject a locally-produced podcast by investigative reporter, Janine Zeitlin, and her colleagues from the Naples Daily News and The News Press.

Scam artist committing real estate and property crimes, many in Lee County, gets six years in prison
Tabria Josey, along with an accomplice, fraudulently listed underdeveloped plots of land with homebuilding or investment potential in several Florida counties. The case against her accomplice, Kiana Kiara-Alexis Russell, 22, of Loxahatchee, also involves charges of scheming to defraud, money laundering and aggravated white-collar crime and remains pending.The Attorney General’s Office of Statewide Prosecution filed the case in Lee County due to the fact that many of the victims and listed properties are in Lee County.
