Big Cypress National Preserve issues temporary area closures
Big Cypress National Preserve has issued a temporary closure to promote visitor safety during prescribed fire activity beginning Monday. During the closure all recreational use including off-road vehicles, hiking, camping, hunting and commercial activities are prohibited in the designated areas.
Into a Category 5: Water-borne drone looks into Hurricane Beryl
A saildrone, SD-1041, deployed to intercept Hurricane Beryl sent back photos, video and data from the major storm on Tuesday.As of 5 p.m. Tuesday, Hurricane Beryl was 422.5 miles ESE of Kingston, Jamaica. The hurricane had maximum sustained winds of 155 mph.

Cypress Trail wildfire in Big Cypress National Preserve closes section; fire said at 3,000 acres
Big Cypress National Preserve officials were notified of a wildfire in the northern portion of the preserve, approximately one mile north of I-75 around mile marker 68 on Tuesday.
Convalescent Plasma Update & New Antibody Treatment Gets FDA Emergency Use Authorization
As the coronavirus outbreak continues researchers and doctors continue working to find new ways to treat Covid-19. Since the end of April Lee Health has been testing the use of convalescent plasma. It’s taken from the blood of people who have recovered from Covid-19 and then infused into people who are sick to hopefully reduce the severity of the disease.

Café of Life and Bikes for Tykes partnership helps further mobility for disadvantaged in the area
A partnership is helping to spread mobility via the distribution of refurbished bikes in the Bonita Springs area. The Café of Life in Bonita Springs is partnering with Bikes for Tykes with some 200 bicycles already donated.
