Red tide caution set for Vanderbilt Beach, lifted at Bowman's Beach
The Florida Department of Health in Collier County advises caution due to the presence of red tide near Vanderbilt Beach found in water samples taken this week.Meanwhile, a similar caution has been lifted at Bowman's Beach in Lee County.
Tomorrow is the deadline for homeowners and renters to apply for Hurricane Ian disaster assistance from FEMA
It’s been three and a half months since Hurricane Ian made landfall near Sanibel Island and swept across the state causing an estimated $50 to 65 billion dollars in insured damages and killing more than 100 people just here in Florida. While many people moved quickly to seek assistance from the Federal Emergency Management Agency after the storm hit, for anyone who has still not filed a claim, the deadline is tomorrow…Thursday, January 12th. Homeowners and renters have until 11:59 tomorrow night to file a claim for property loss, or damage to property, from Hurricane Ian.

Lee Commissioners accept ResilientLee Recovery and Resilience Plan
The Lee Board of County Commissioners voted Tuesday to accept the ResilientLee Recovery and Resilience Plan, a product of the Long-Term Recovery Task Force, which included more than 200 community members.In December 2022 – just months after devastating Hurricane Ian made landfall in Lee County – the Board approved the formation of Long-Term Task Force. Teams of community members organized in Branches synthesized months of community input, feedback, and analysis to create the ResilientLee Recovery and Resilience Plan.

COVID-19 Morning Report
State health officials reported 9,785 new cases of COVID-19, Wednesday, increasing Florida's total to 379,619 cases of the virus. The Florida Department of Health also reported another 139 coronavirus-related deaths, yesterday, bringing the statewide death toll to 5,345 fatalities.Of the 3,158,741 COVID-19 tests that have been performed in Florida overall, 12.02% have been positive for the virus.
