The School Fishing Club Program is an annual educational grant program that teaches youth anglers about best fishing practices to help ensure the future of fishing in Florida.
FEMA Disaster Recovery Center in Manatee County opens Saturday
FEMA will be opening a Disaster Recovery Center in Manatee County beginning tomorrow to help Florida storm survivors.The Disaster Recovery Center will open Saturday, Aug. 17 from 1 – 7 p.m. at the Lakewood Ranch Library (16410 Rangeland Pkwy, Bradenton, FL., 34211). The center will be open from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily after that.

State funds accepted Tuesday by Lee County are for housing and services for people experiencing, or at risk of, homelessness.
Lee County Legal Aid's Law at the Library provides affordable advice
the Law at the Library program, courtesy of Lee County Legal Aid, aims to remove that barrier free of charge. The scope of issues that attorneys in the Lee County Legal Aid's Law at the Library program handle ranges from housing to immigration. Disaster relief and contractor fraud are focused on during the sessions, but attorneys are equipped to help with anything.
Hickory Hollow Jerky recalls over 6,000 pounds of jerky products
Hickory Hollow Jerky is recalling approximately 6,229 pounds of ready-to-eat jerky products that were produced without the benefit of federal inspection according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service.The Eufaula, Ala., establishment's beef jerky and bacon jerky products were produced on various dates between Jan. 19, 2024-Aug. 21, 2024. The products were produced without the benefit of inspection by two different owners of the establishment, the USDA announcement said.
Batch of wrong Lee County TRIM notices sent; 24,000 replacements set to be mailed out by Tuesday
Some 24,000 TRIM notices for the wrong year were mailed Friday to Lee County homeowners, by mistake.Property Appraiser Matt Caldwell says the error was made when a batch of the notices did not get overwritten with the current year's data.
