Motorists who use the Wilson Pigott Bridge over the Caloosahatchee River (Route 31) should prepare for a temporary full closure beginning March 19, weather permitting and contingent upon timely delivery of construction materials.

Two 4-month-old female panther kittens found dead along road in Collier County; conservationist says such deaths can be avoided
A pair of Florida panther kittens no more than 4 months old were found dead last weekend along Davis Boulevard in Collier County.State panther experts believed the female kittens, each weighing about 30 pounds, were hit by a vehicle southwest of the Interstate 75 toll booth on Alligator Alley.

Body of missing Fort Myers woman possibly found; Search continues for Collier County man
The Lee County Sheriff's Office said shortly before 2 p.m. that it had likely found the body of Arielle Valdez, 21, the Fort Myers woman missing since Wednesday. Searchers in Collier County meanwhile continued looking for a missing Golden Gate Estates man, Eduardo Ramirez, 64, whose vehicle was found in a remote area off Beck Boulevard in East Naples.

Lennar breaks ground in Rivergrass within the Town of Big Cypress
A panther walks within the Florida Panther National Wildlife Refuge, which is 41 square miles of unfenced land meant to give the far-ranging animal some room to hunt and breed amid South Florida's growing population, although one of three villages within the Town of Big Cypress — and the new roads and additional vehicle traffic that comes with with it, is within a mile or so of the refuge, angering environmentalists.
