Federal lawsuit filed in police shooting death of Immokalee man
Collier County Sheriff Kevin Rambosk and three law enforcement officers with the CCSO are being sued in federal court in Fort Myers. The suit accuses the officers of civil rights violations in the shooting death of 37-year-old Nicolas Morales-Bessannia and accuses Sheriff Rambosk of allowing abuse and violence by his officers. The CCSO said it stands by the findings of its Professional Responsibility Bureau and the State Attorney's Office. Both concluded the shooting was justified.

Veteran and business volunteers help clean up Port Charlotte neighborhood wracked by Ian
More than 150 volunteers from Team Depot, The Home Depot’s associate volunteer force, and another 30 to 50 volunteers from Team Rubicon, a veterans volunteer organization, arrived early Thursday to help residents in a Port Charlotte neighborhood clean out their homes, removing flooring and drywall, and working with chainsaw teams to remove debris from the area.

Charlotte County warns about illegal dumping of debris from Ian
Charlotte County said it is investigating several cases of suspected illegal dumping of debris from Hurricane Ian. Charlotte says it believes out-of-state contractors may be dumping at places around the county, rather than taking trash to the landfill and paying disposal fees.
