Feds testing willing area residents for exposure to blue-green algae
The Centers for Disease Control is enlisting willing residents who live along canals in Cape Coral or the Caloosahatchee River in a study to discover how much blue-green algae can effect humans.
Page Field base operations at voted among the best FBOs in the Americas
This is the 11th consecutive year Base Operations at Page Field has been named a top fixed-base operator by AIN. Base Operations ranked first in the Fort Myers/Naples area, landed in the top 15 overall for FBOs in the Americas and was also one of the top ranked FBOs in the facilities category.
Culling of polling sites leaves Dunbar community without one
Lee County use to have 97 voting sites. Today, the final day to cast a vote in the midterm election, and nearly six weeks after the hurricane, there are just 13 locations. All of them are in predominately white communities. The closest sites to Dunbar are about 50 minutes away by foot.

Lee County Recovery Task Force schedules town hall meetings
One of the goals of ResilientLee, the public-facing aspect of the Lee County Recovery Task Force, is community engagement. Beginning April 19, the Recovery Task Force will host a series of countywide town hall meetings to engage residents. The meetings will last two hours and include facilitated discussions to encourage public involvement in the recovery-planning process.
A $20,000 check -- courtesy of FPL -- greets recent Fort Myers High grad with an eye on Princeton
Aum Dhruv, a recent Fort Myers High School graduate, was awarded a $20,000 scholarship check from FPL Tuesday7. He plans on attending Princeton University in the fall.
