Public warning issued about potential EMS billing scam
Charlotte County cautions residents against providing credit card, bank, or other personal information to callers claiming to represent EMS billing or other county departments.A resident recently alerted the county’s Fire & EMS headquarters, stating they were contacted via phone by a party claiming to have an EMS billing refund due to overpayment and requesting the caller's banking information so they could receive the refund amount.
Ken Savage again takes the reins of Lee County District Schools as superintendent
Lee County school board members learned their current superintendent, Christopher S. Bernier, wanted to end his reign over the past weekend. In spite of knowing his intentions to no longer serve in Lee County at least past this fall's election, they seemed stunned by the suddenness. They then turned again to Ken Savage. He had been interim superintendent prior to Bernier's appointment in 2022.

Lee County Port Authority names Robert Taylor new chief of police
Robert Taylor has been promoted to Chief of the Lee County Port Authority Airport Police Department. As chief, Taylor is responsible for public safety and security at Southwest Florida International Airport (RSW) and Page Field (FMY) in Fort Myers, including the enforcement of laws and security regulations; traffic operations; airport security compliance and support; and the overall leadership and administration of airport law enforcement functions.
