Charlotte says brain infection amoeba poses no 'further threat'
The Florida Department of Health in Charlotte County has confirmed one Florida case recently infected with Naegleria fowleri, possibly as a result of sinus rinse practices utilizing tap water. The agency has issued a no "further threat to the community" notice.
Lee district unveils program to track students via school buses
The Lee County School District is using a $1 million grant to keep track of students who take buses to school. The district is unveiling it card-scanning program, called Student Ridership. Most bus-riding students will get their cards this week, as classes begin on Thursday.

Fort Myers awarded nearly $15M for wellfield expansion project
The City of Fort Myers will build two new water wells, using nearly $15 million that was awarded to the city last September. The money is part of a $1.1 billion grant from the federal Housing and Urban Development Community Development Block Grant—Disaster Recover (CDBG-DR).
