White Cane Day raises awareness for vision impairment struggles
Lakes Regional Library hosted its first White Cane Day event to bring attention to the struggles of living with a vision impairment. Over 25 attendees were educated on how to use a white cane and guided through the intersection of Gladiolus Drive and Bass Road by library staff and Lee County Sheriffs.

The Heights Foundation hosts Thanksgiving meal for Harlem Heights Families
More than 300 Harlem Heights families enjoyed a festive meal at The Heights Foundation located off Gladiolus in Lee County to celebrate an early Thanksgiving. The celebration offered a buffet, face painting, games, and even free karate lessons from National Karate Fort Myers. Each family left with a turkey and Publix gift card for their own Thanksgiving dinner.
Frying that Thanksgiving turkey means following some safety tips
According to the National Fire Protection Association, Thanksgiving is the peak day for home cooking fires with more than three times the daily average for such incidents. The Sarasota County Fire Department said that when it comes to frying the turkey, there's a couple of safety tips you should follow.

Charlotte Sheriff's Office looking to identify body of woman found in the Peace River
The Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office Major Crimes Unit is trying to identify a deceased female found in the water late last month. On March 29, a deceased female, likely between the ages of 50 and 80 years old, was found in Hunter Creek near the Peace River in Punta Gorda. The female had been in the water for several days and cause of death has not been determined.
