Island-wide storm water repair project begins on Sanibel, April 22
Work on Sanibel City’s storm water repair project is scheduled to start Tuesday, April 22. The project is a component of the storm water masterplan update. As part of the masterplan update, the entire storm water system was inspected by Johnson Engineering and this project incorporates the results of those inspections and additional items identified by City staff.

FGCU makes settlement with NCAA over 2023 infractions case
A negotiated settlement in an NCAA infractions case has been made with Florida Gulf Coast University.The negotiated resolution, announced Friday, stems from an infractions case from July 2023 to May 2024 within the university's men's tennis program. The penalties levied by the NCAA against FGCU in the case include a $25,000 fine; the men's tennis program was prohibited from recruitment efforts January 6-21, 2025; the issuance of a 2-year probation; and vacation of selected team contests.

Alliance for the Arts hosting town hall on SWFL's creative future on Nov. 12
On Nov. 12, the Alliance for the Arts will host a town hall at the Collaboratory in Fort Myers. It will delve into five areas shaping the future of arts and culture in Southwest Florida: Access to the Arts, Community Collaboration, Art Education, Artist Empowerment, and Special Projects.
