Florida state parks offer free admission for all on Veterans Day
As the nation prepares to commemorate America’s 250th anniversary, the Florida Department of Environmental Protection invites Floridians to reflect on the people and places that shaped the nation’s story and the service members who have safeguarded it. On Veterans Day, Tuesday, Nov. 11, Florida State Parks will offer free admission for all visitors to recognize and thank those who have served in the U.S. Armed Forces.

FBI, U.S. Attorney: Investigation into Lee Sheriff Marceno 'closed'
The FBI and U.S. U.S. Attorney's Office said this week that their case against Lee County Sheriff Carmine Marceno has been closed. A letter sent Monday to an attorney representing Marceno referenced a Nov. 17 date and confirmed the closure. The letter, to Attorney Donald Day, said the decision was based on “information presently known to the government.”
Lee Clerk to host free class on applying for a marriage license
February is a popular month for marriage licenses and wedding ceremonies at the Lee County Clerk of Court’s office.Couples who would like to learn how to apply for a marriage license are invited to attend a free online class Wednesday, Feb. 12, from 2-3 p.m. The class will be held via the online platform Zoom.
Coast Guard rescues five people aboard disabled boat near Sanibel
A Coast Guard Air Station Clearwater aircrew rescued two children and three adults, Wednesday, after their 28-foot vessel became disabled, 30 miles west of Sanibel Island.No injuries were reported.

Thirteenth panther death reported for 2025, vehicle collision suspected
The remains of a 2-year-old, female Florida panther were found August 28 on Keri Road, 2.5 miles west of Twin Mills Grade in Hendry County.The suspected cause for the 13th panther death in 2025 was vehicle collision.
