South Florida interagency prescribed fire project extends beyond boundaries to reduce hazardous fuels
The National Park Service in conjunction with the Miccosukee Tribe of Indians of Florida and the Bureau of Indian Affairs will be conducting a joint prescribed fire operation in late January and continuing through February. The 151,434-acre Boundary Prescribed Fire Project — sited south of U.S. 41 between mile markers 36 and 44, including the Miccosukee Reserved Area — removes jurisdictional boundaries to complete prescribed burns with the assistance of federal, Tribal, state and local resources.

Now in its 11th year, the Bonita Springs Short Film Festival prompts aspiring filmmakers of all ages and skill levelsto create short pieces about what there is to love about Bonita. It is accepting submissions through March 28th and will screen the Best Overall Film, Best Depiction of Bonita Springs, Most Original Film, Best Under-18 Filmmaker and People’s Choice. The festival takes place Thursday, April 16, at Prado Stadium 12 in Spring Creek Plaza.
