The Southwest Florida based arts non-profit Love Your Rebellion will hold its first annual Zinefest Oct. 19 to celebrate the grand opening of LYR’s Zine Library at Neenie’s House in Fort Myers.  The library will serve as a space to house a permanent collection of small-circulation self-published writing and art books, including editions of Love Your Rebellion’s own zine.

The festival celebration will include zines and art for purchase as well as food vendors, zine readings and live music.  In preparation to open the zine library, Love Your Rebellion is currently accepting submissions from a mural contest to have visual artists decorate the interior walls of the library.  The submission period for the mural contest remains open through Sept. 1.  We’ll speak with the founder, president and treasurer of Love Your Rebellion, Angela Page, for a closer look at what the zine library and zine culture are all about, the broader mission of the organization and a preview of upcoming events throughout the coming season.
