Artists Imagine Future in “Fast Forward” Exhibition at Big Arts

Big Arts

An exhibition titled “Fast Forward,” is now on display at Big Arts on Sanibel. The multimedia exhibit, which runs through July 31, challenges the artists whose work is included to “imagine the future from the vantage point of our historically turbulent and uncertain time.”

The exhibition is curated by Florida SouthWestern State College Professor of Art and the college’s Humanities and Fine Arts Chair Dana Roes, and features pieces from seven alumni of the school.

Pieces in the show draw on widely diverse spectrum of artistic mediums including sculpture, fabrics, film, found (or stolen) elements, and even human hair.

Contributing artists include Martha De la Cruz, Dalton Howard, Alejandro Gomez Hernandez, Claire Malécot, Leila Mesdaghi, Kirsten Pettifor, and B.A. Wikoff.

Ahead of a reception and artist talkback session at 5 p.m. on Saturday, July 17, we’ll explore the show with its curator and some of the artists including Mesdaghi, Malécot, and Gomez Hernandez.

A virtual tour of the exhibition is available here.
