March marks National Women’s History Month and this year’s honorees through the National Women’s History Project include three Florida women who were honored last week at an awards event in Washington, D.C. The theme for this year’s chosen honorees recognizes their impact on advancing women’s issues through public service and government leadership.
We’ll hear from LGBT civil rights activist and director of Equality Florida, Nadine Smith. We talk to co-founder of NOW (National Organization for Women) Sonia Pressman Fuentes who was also the first women attorney in the Office of the General Counsel at the EEOC (Equal Employment Opportunity Commission). We’ll also learn about the life and impact of the late Betty Mae Tiger Jumper, who served as the first and only elected Chief of the Seminole Tribe of Florida.
