The 20th Judicial circuit of the State Attorney’s office in Florida is shifting personnel to add to its homicide unit. Covering Charlotte, Lee, Collier, Hendry and Glades counties, the district is one of the largest in the state, with up to 60,000 new cases a year.

Now the homicide unit is comprised of up eight specialized prosecutors, up from the previous five. They and a team of investigative and support staff are currently working on more than 50 homicide cases.

Today we talk with Chief Assistant State Attorney Amira Fox about what these specialized prosecutors handle in the homicide unit, and learn more about the work they do in partnership with local law enforcement agencies.
