Florida Southwestern State College’s Critical Thinking Lecture Series returns this month for two presentations, beginning with one tomorrow morning called “Identifying and Acknowledging Subconscious Biases” with Dr. Mary Ellen Schultz. Subconscious, or implicit bias refers to the attitudes or stereotypes that affect our understanding, actions, and decisions in an unconscious manner. The lecture series features academic scholars and community leaders who discuss critical thinking in their fields of expertise, background experiences, or career or academic interests.

 

Dr. Schultz earned her bachelor's degree in Liberal Studies from California Polytechnic State University, her master's degree is in education with a focus on bilingual education from Columbia University, and Doctor of Philosophy degree in Education with an emphasis on English as a second language from North Central University.
