Audubon's 119th Annual Christmas Bird Count

The Audubon Society’s Christmas Bird Count was started on Christmas Day in the year 1900. It’s one of the longest running citizen science efforts ever. During the count, birdwatchers go to designated areas within 15-mile circles and count the type, and number, of birds they see and hear over the course of a day.

The information they collect is used to track bird populations in North America, and how they have changed over time. We're joined by Sally Stein, she's the Public Programs Director at Audubon’s Corkscrew Swamp Sanctuary who is coordinating the local county at Corkscrew Swamp on Saturday, December 15th.
