This Saturday, November 2 there’s an event in Fort Myers launching the new Dunbar Cultural Landmarks Tour, which will allow people to download a free app and follow the route to learn more about historic places in the Dunbar Community.
The tour contains ten stops in all, three of which — Williams Academy Black History Museum, McCollum Hall, and Dunbar Community School— will host presentations on Saturday. We're getting a preview from Janice Cass, founder of the Lee County Black History Society and a Fort Myers attorney and educator; and Jarrett Eady, Director of Diversity and Inclusion at the School District of Lee County, and a board member of the Lee County Black History Society.
The tour is a collaboration between the Lee County Black History Society and the Fort Myers Community Redevelopment Agency. During the event, the public will choose to visit the stops as a walking tour, a driving tour, or as a bus tour. A limited number of seats will be available on the bus tours, which start at 10 a.m. and Noon.
