The Florida Center for Government Accountability (FLCGA) focuses its government accountability and journalistic efforts on local governments, providing support and assistance for citizens and investigative journalists working to hold government accountable.

FLCGA recently supported a major investigation looking at the possible conflict of interest of a Collier Commissioner regarding proposals to develop the county's Reserved Land Stewardship Areas published in Gulfshore Business.

FLCGA's Executive Director Barbara Petersen joins us to talk about the crucial role investigative journalism plays in a robust democracy. She’s also former head of the First Amendment Foundation and is a nationally recognized expert on government transparency and accountability.
