For the Little Pine Island Bridge, planners want to either add new seawalls to the existing bridge or replace the entire structure. The bridge was built in 1977 and Hurricane Ian caused significant soil loss, and loss of the seawalls and approach slabs on both sides of the bridge.

FlixBus is adding a new Fort Myers-Cape Coral stop at the Edison Mall starting February 9. This stop will be part of three different routes including service to various other Florida locations such as Miami, Naples, Fort Lauderdale, St. Petersburg, Orlando, Sarasota, Tampa, Hollywood, Tallahassee, and Gainesville.

The Wilson Pigott Bridge was built in 1960 with a 50-year design life. Now state transportation planners are looking for ways to renovate or replace the lift bridge that serves a fast-growing part of Lee County. A stretch of State Road 31 also may have to be widened.

Passengers have brought 793 guns to TSA checkpoints across Florida this year. Nearly every one of the guns confiscated was loaded and most had ammunition chambered.
