Comedian Rodney Dangerfield Dies at 82

Actor Rodney Dangerfield, famous for his self-deprecating humor, died Tuesday at 82. After undergoing heart-valve replacement surgery Aug. 25 in Los Angeles, Dangerfield fell into a coma, from which he emerged this past week.

After appearing dozens of times on TV variety shows, Dangerfield made his film debut in the 1971 film The Projectionist. He later won much acclaim for his outrageous role in the 1980 film Caddyshack. He is survived by his wife and two grown children. Hear NPR's Melissa Block.
