Flood Watch South Florida, Development Possible in Atlantic

WUFT

A Flood Watch has been issued in South Florida through Saturday. Meteorologist Cyndee O'Quinn says a tropical disturbance - not a storm - is the culprit.

"Over the next 48 hours, the disturbance is not expected to develop into a tropical system, but it could later this weekend or early next week as it moves into the Atlantic", said O'Quinn.

Regardless, O'Quinn says several periods of heavy rain are possible over the next two days."The Greater Miami could see four to six inches of rain with four to five inches in West Palm", O'Quinn said. "
"Naples will six to seven inches of rain with four inches in Fort Myers."

As of Thursday afternoon, the National Hurricane Center says it has a medium chance of development in the next five days.
