Former Marine Band Musicians from FL Recall JFK years

Mike Jahn via Flickr

November 22nd, 2013 marks the 50th anniversary of the JFK assassination, one of the most memorable tragedies in American history.

In this archive feature, Donna Green-Townsend talked with two former Marine Band members, trombonist Albert Johnson who played in the Marine Band from 1957 thru 1980, and the late Jim King, who not only played the clarinet in the Marine Band from 1946 thru 1968, but also served as the assistant director.

The two musicians from Florida have very distinct memories of inaugurations, dinner parties, the Camelot years in the White House, and sadly marching in the funeral procession for John F. Kennedy.
