Governor Rick Scott was in Estero Tuesday. He broke ground at the new location of Hertz’s corporate headquarters.
Alongside Hertz officials and local lawmakers, Governor Scott celebrated the company’s new digs in Southwest Florida.
After receiving millions in incentive funding from Lee County and the state, Hertz announced earlier this year that it would be moving its corporate headquarters out of New Jersey.
Scott said during a swanky event in Estero that the move is a big achievement for the region.
“There’s not many better opportunities than to have a great company like Hertz—a Fortune 200 company—move to our state add all these jobs, over 700 jobs, average income over $100,00 a year,” he said. “So, it’s a big deal.”
The new $70 million headquarters will be built on Williams Rd. just off U.S. 41. Construction is expected to be completed by 2015.
